Like many of the muses, I met Krystle through a mutual friend. What can I say? Fly chicks beget fly chicks.
Read MoreI’d heard last year that FIDM does an exhibit at their museum featuring all of the costumes from Oscar nominated films. So on my own I went to check it out. This year I had it in my calendar, when one of my instructors suggested we go for a filed trip. I love a field trip more than almost anything in the world so I was down. My classmates and I met up at FIDM and were lead through this amazing exhibit by our instructor Karolyn Kiisel. Peep my pics below:
Read MoreOne day, early on this semester, one of my instructors, Eddie Bledsoe, introduced the class to his dear friend Maxwell Barr. Maxwell Barr is an artist and instructor specializing in couture construction, fashion and costume history, graphic design, and a bevy of other amazing things. The reason why Maxwell was at LACC that day was because he’d been working very closely with one of our extremely talented staff members, Christopher Brown to recreate a print from a garment worn in a Manet painting. Once the print was finished, Christopher used our sublimation printer and giant iron press to transfer the print to fabric. Finally, the panels of fabric were given to Maxwell, who constructed the garment . Through a series of talks at The Getty called, “Artist at Work: Fashion and Impressionism,” Maxwell takes the audience through his process, while also educating on 19th century fashion and costume by having a live model get dressed in classic wear on stage.
Read MoreOne of the great things about having a big sister who was a teenager in the early 90s was the sick ass hand me downs. My sister has had a job since she was a toddler, and she saved up her coins to look as fresh as possible. I recall one of her most prized possessions was this long-sleeve, color block Cross Colours polo shirt. I wished for her to will it to me upon her untimely demise. But she refused, for she would be buried in said shirt.

Read MoreIn the summer I basically live in dresses. And I really love anything with a circle skirt on it. It’s cool and flowy and I can open my legs and air out my lady space without anyone seeing my bits. So this pattern would fit in perfectly with everything else in my closet.
Read MoreI was really scared to make this dress. It looks so perfect on Mimi. But I’m shaped like the Kool-Aid man…if the Kool-Aid man had big ole titties. Anyway, I love the idea of a form fitting maxi. But in practice I just end up looking pregnant. And I don’t need that kinda shit in my life.
But after I stumbled upon a double knit that I felt could hold me in without making me hot, I thought it might be just the fabric for this dress. As usual, I was right.
Read MoreI have a tendency to sew a lot of dresses because I just feel like dresses are more flattering to my shape. But I’ve been trying to find flattering silhouettes for tops and pants that work for me as well. And peplum tops or tops cinched at the waist seem to work best for me. So when I came across this poncho blouse pattern, I felt like it would be a good fit.
Read MoreIt’s springtime, so that means it’s wedding season. I’ve got three weddings this year and when I can’t find something cute and vintage to wear, I make something. This time I went with a vintage repro pattern from McCall’s Archive Collection.

Read MoreBy the last day of fashion week I was exhausted, per usual. So I decided to only attend the 7p and 9p shows. There was one at 5p, but I had zero desire to be in heels for 5 hours soooo...
