Art Farts: (The CAAM) Cross Colours-Black Fashion in the 20th Century

One of the great things about having a big sister who was a teenager in the early 90s was the sick ass hand me downs.  My sister has had a job since she was a toddler, and she saved up her coins to look as fresh as possible. I recall one of her most prized possessions was this long-sleeve, color block Cross Colours polo shirt.  I wished for her to will it to me upon her untimely demise.  But she refused, for she would be buried in said shirt.

I say all this to say that Cross Colours was thee shit.  It defined a generation and was one of the most prominent stree twear lines in hip hop. And that’s probably why the California African American Museum saw fit to celebrate the brilliance of Carl Jones’ iconic line.

The exhibit will be available until March 1, 2020.  Go check it out.

You can also peep some of the pics I took while I was there for their quarterly Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop event.
