2023 Wins, Losses and Lessons Learned
Read MoreThe past several Novembers I’ve been working extra hard to not work hard at all. I had a situation a few years ago where I was running myself ragged and it did NOT turn out well for me. Since then, I’ve decided to take a month off from all things that were totally unnecessary to focus on rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.
Read More2022 for me was about realizing myself worth and then taking much needed action because of that realization. I was reevaluating my relationships and leaning into self-love. I worked on realizing that I deserve to be treated with the same love, compassion, and care that I give others.

Read MoreFour years in a row I’ve taken the month of November off to recharge and get my mind right as we approach the end of the year.
Read MoreIn 2018 and 2019 I did a year in review. But 2020 really threw me (hell, it threw all of us) for a big ass fucking loop. So I made a choice to NOT review that dumpster fire. Thankfully, even though 2021 wasn’t easy…I definitely had more wins than losses.

Read MoreAs many of you know, I’ve been on a journey into the world of costume design for a few years now. I’ve been calling it my third act because I went to school (the first time) for Journalism and spent many years as an entertainment gossip blogger and music and fashion editor. My other job was in the world of ad sales as a corporate trainer and project manager. And as exhausted as I’d be from sitting at a computer for 12 hours, when I got home at the end of the day, all I wanted to do was write stories and sew.

Read MoreLike many of the muses, I met Krystle through a mutual friend. What can I say? Fly chicks beget fly chicks.
Read MoreEvery year during Black History Month I try to watch at least one black movie a day.
I happen to own a lot of these movies (“The Color Purple,” “The Five Heartbeats,” “The Wiz,” “Coming to America,” “Love Jones,” “Mahogany”…you get the picture). Below I’ve listed all the black ass movies that you can stream during Black History month. I’ve also gone ahead and categorized them in case you wanted to go with a theme.
Read MoreI’ve spent the last week reflecting on what an amazing year 2019 was for me and thinking about how MF sweet 2020 is going to be. Ya’ll know how much I love a listicle…so here’s a little look back and a big look forward.
Read MoreYou haven’t heard from me in a month because I’ve been taking some self-prescribed me time. I spent the past month writing and sewing because that’s what I loves to do. Since I know you’ve all been waiting on pins and needles for my return, I decided to show you what I’ve been up to while I was gone.
Read MoreLast year, I really pushed it to the MF limit with work. I was staying up all night to push orders out of the door and putting pressure on myself to get posts published. All this while working part time and getting my domestic engineer on.
Read MoreWhen I first moved to Los Angeles, I looked up interesting things to see and do FOR FREE. In my search I came across a lot of street art all over LA County. One concentrated area of a particular kind of street art (painted staircases) is Silver Lake.
Read MoreHubby and I have been wanting to go to a renaissance faire, since we knew they existed. He wanted to recapture the joy of his youth, having been to several Medieval Times locations both in the states and in Canada. I know…he’s fancy AF. I wanted to go because I’d NEVER been to Medieval Times and always wanted to go. I’d heard rumors about giant turkey legs and eating with one’s hands and it was all a seven-year-old Lo could think about.
Finally, this year, we teamed up with some pals who’d been to the RenFaire in Irwindale before and wanted to experience that turkey leg joy again.

Read MoreThis year was a particularly busy Hell-O-Ween. By mid-October I was pulling all-nighters to keep up with orders. And by Halloween I was so exhausted that I may or may not have had a minor mental break. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for the business and happy clients make for a happy crafter. But Jesus be a catnap, because I was TIRED.
