The Metropolitan Fashion Week Opening was held at The Original Farmer’s Market at The Grove. It included a design contest where designers were tasked with creating one piece that was inspired by the King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh exhibit at the California Science Center. The winner will have the opportunity to participate in the Metropolitan Fashion Week Closing Gala & Fashion Awards on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Los Angeles City Hall.
To get everyone in the mood, a 32’ tall recreation of one of the signature pieces in the King Tut collection “The Guardian” was on display at the Farmers Market before and during the show.
There was also a special presentation put on by the Cinema Makeup School that brought us some insane makeup work inspired by the exhibit.
I loved that by having the show at The Grove and opening it up to the general public, Metropolitan Fashion Week brought the show to people who otherwise probably wouldn’t have been able to experience it.
But enough about my thoughts…on to the fashion!
