Costume Remix #18: Eve’s Bayou (1997)

Eve’s Bayou is a lovely mash up of new actors and seasoned thespians. Meagan Good and Jurnee and Jake Smollett hold their own against heavy hitters like Diahann Carroll, Lynn Whitfield and Debbi Morgan. I take issue with a lot of the plot points like making a child out to be a liar about sexual abuse. But that aside, I love the overall feel of the film. And the costumes! Miss Karyn Wagner, you are a delight.

My mother-in-law, Sarita, who’s a quilter, runs a sick embroidery biz, and is a fellow sewist and crafter, is always sending me all types of goodies that she picks up at estate sales and the like. She knows how much I love vintage shit, in particular, vintage clothing. So she’ll grab a shit tone of patterns for like 50 cents a pop and send ‘em in a box to me.
