The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe: Simplicity 8889
My hubby requested that I make more things for him because I’ve been making myself all kinds of fly shit. So I came through and made him a bunch of stuff during Sewvember. And since I’ve been trying to alternate, two for me, one for you. So I made him a super cute button up in Ankara Print that he loves. But I’d bought so much fabric for his piece that I had a ton left over and decided to make a button up crop top for myself.
Pattern: Simplicity Sewing Pattern S8889 Misses' Shirt and Wide Leg Pants by Mimi G Style
Fabric: Ankara Print BSP2209 from AKN Fabrics
Style: Crop Button Up Shirt
Vintage/Contemporary: Contemporary
Pattern Edits:
1. Aye, aye, aye! I wish I had made edits on this top. But I didn’t. See the below section for what I would have done.
Lessons Learned:
1. I would definitely alter the pattern so that I have more range of motion in the arms. When I lift my arms in this shirt it goes up too high. This wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t a crop shirt and I didn’t have giant boobs. I generally always alter patterns to accommodate my bust. But when I looked at the pieces, they seemed adequate. Note: They weren’t.
