Year-Round Sangria

Whilst getting ready for Friendsgiving, which was a potluck, I was tasked to come up with some wintry drinks. I was already bringing coquito. But I thought I’d make a sangria as well. Sangria is usually more of a summer drink. But you can easily make it winter friendly by adding a few choice ingredients.

Ingredients:

Spring/Summer Sangria

3 cups red wine

1 cup orange (or pineapple) juice

3/4 cup dark rum

2 oranges, cut in rounds

1 Lemon, cut in rounds

1 Lime, cut in rounds

2 cups your choice of flavored sparkling water (like La Croix)

[Lo Note: Feel free to add any fruit you like. I’m into berries so I always throw a berry mix into my summer sangria.]

Autumn/Winter Sangria

3 cups red wine

1 cup orange (or pineapple) juice

3/4 cup spiced rum

2 sticks cinnamon

3 fresh cloves, ground

2 apples, seeded and roughly chopped

1 orange, cut in rounds

2 cups your choice of flavored sparkling water (like La Croix)

Lo Note: You can use almost any rum (except for Bacardi). Because Bacardi is gross AF.

This drink recipe works really well for large groups.  It’s chock full of booze and you can barely taste it. Danger Will Robinson!
