The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe: Simplicity S8060
Two of the hubby’s best buds decided to meet up with him in Vegas for some type of VR whatchamawhozit. I’m not a gamer…I know nothing of these things. They all decided to bring their ladies so we could get some triple date action going. So as always, I thought that I’d need a whole ass new wardrobe for two days of foolishness in the desert.
After engaging in old folk shit the night we arrived (we hit up a buffet immediately) we woke up bright and early the next day for a full day of fuckery. I’d looked up the Neon Sign Boneyard and instantly knew I had to go. My outfit for the day? A denim knee length jumpsuit.
Pattern: Simplicity Pattern 8060 Misses' Separates by Mimi G Style
Fabric: Clearance Denim ($5/yard) from Michael Levine Fabrics
Style: Feminine twist on a workman’s jumpsuit
Vintage/Contemporary: Contemporary
Pattern Edits:
1. I made zero pattern edits. This was a perfect pattern that needed no extra video instruction at all. I did, however, make a version two sizes larger than I normally wear because I didn’t want it to be fitted and generally wanted to wear it casually.
Lessons Learned:
1. I was initially intimidated by this project because it incorporated me doing a few things I’d never done before like the style of pockets on the bottom of the suit and incorporating a drawstring in a jumpsuit. But thankfully I pushed on and actually completed it in about two days. I’m glad I’m learning to relax. I thank my therapist and husband for that.
