The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe: Simplicity S5555

Two of the hubby’s best buds decided to meet up with him in Vegas for some type of VR whatchamawhozit.  I’m not a gamer…I know nothing of these things. They all decided to bring their ladies so we could get some triple date action going.  So as always, I thought that I’d need a whole ass new wardrobe for two days of foolishness in the desert.

After engaging in old folk shit the night we arrived (we hit up a buffet immediately where I wore a linen culotte set) we woke up bright and early the next day for a full day of fuckery.  I’d looked up the Neon Sign Boneyard and instantly knew I had to go.  My outfit for the day? A denim knee length jumpsuit. But my outfit for the evening consisted of a skater skirt, combat booties and an army green vintage halter pattern.

Pattern: Simplicity Pattern 5555 Misses' Vintage Jiffy Knit Wrap and Tie Top

Fabric: Clearance poly-knit from Michael Levine-The Loft

Style: Halter Tie Top

Vintage/Contemporary:  Vintage

Original/Reproduction: Reproduction

Pattern Edits:

1. I made the halter reversible.  I wanted to be able to alternate between the business black stretch knit and the party shiny green knit.  Mission accomplished.

Lessons Learned:

1. I should have taken my time cutting the knits. Since they were two different weights and stretches this project needed to be handled a little less haphazardly than I did.  It ended up working out just fine.  But I went back afterwards and refit the top to make sure that it wouldn’t be lopsided or screwy as time went on.
