A few years ago some dear friends went on an Asian tour for their honeymoon.  I asked them if they could snag me some fabrics during their travels and they brought back several beautiful prints for me to play with.  One of those fabrics I’ve been saving for a special occasion and that occasion finally arrived when our friends Lee and Jasmine jumped the broom.

I wanted to make something colorful and cute for this outdoor spring wedding.  The dress code was semi-formal.  But because it was outdoors I had to figure out a way to style myself for comfort and heat.

Pattern: MCCALLS 8113 Misses' & Women's Tops With Cup Sizes

Fabric: Stretch print from Vietnam

Style: Shirt

Vintage/Contemporary:  Contemporary

Pattern Edits:

1. No pattern edits.  Actually, I don’t know if that’s true because I didn’t even look at the instructions.  So I may have inadvertently altered something.  I’ve found that the longer I sew, the less I need to bother with silly old instructions.

Lessons Learned:

1. The zipper became a real situation.  I think that had more to do with the fabric than the zipper itself.  The fabric is really slippery and hard to stabilize.
