The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe:  Vogue 1583

I picked up what would equate to scrap fabric from a few places.  I think one was from Joan and the other from Rye Canyon Supply Co.  But I’m not 100% sure.  Anyway, I’d had these scraps for a while before I came across this pattern.  I was actually looking for other patterns when this one kinda jumped out to me.

I knew I’d be using the rose/stripe print scrap fabric for the top.  But it wasn’t until I laid the two scrap fabrics against each other that I thought I might be able to wear them together as a set.

Pattern Edits:

1. I made an edit by accident.  So as I started to cut the fabric for the top, I realized I wouldn’t have enough.  So I ended up adding some black silk that was supposed to be the underside of the collar.  I apparently pinned the collar on wrong and ended up creating a contrast look.  It wasn’t what I’d intended, but it is still cute as hell.

Lessons Learned:

1. Whenever I make pants or shorts for myself, I always get really nervous that they’re not going to fit. Sure, I alter the pattern to make room for my long torso and chubby belly, but I never believe that they will fit me properly.  I’ve only ever had that happen once with a pattern, but apparently, it’s scarred me for life.  So when I slipped on these bottoms and they fit me and I felt cute, I had to resign myself to the fact that I know what I’m doing and can easily alter patterns to fit my body.

There’s literally zero thought that needs to go into this pattern. Newbies can go for it.
