The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe:  Vogue 9291

As I have been on this journey, I’ve made different garments for different purposes.  Sometimes I’m making something because I have a place to go.  Sometimes I just want to make something pretty.  But since we’ve been in quarantine, I’ve just wanted to make comfortable stuff.  Thus this wrap.  It’s not super warm, which works for the SoCal winters which never go below 55 degrees.  It’s also fashioned like a small blanket so I can wear it at home and save money on the electric bill by not turning on the heat.

Pattern: Misses' Wraps, Shrug, and Scarf

Fabric: Herringbone Knit and Sweatshirt Knit, both from Rye Canyon Supply, Co.

Style: Wrap

Vintage/Contemporary:  Contemporary

Pattern Edits:

1. I made it reversible.  Though I’ll most likely wear it with the light gray sweatshirt material on the inside because it’s super soft, I have the option of wearing it the other way.  I added a loop to the inside of the wrap so I could wear it whatever way I want.

Lessons Learned:

1. I don’t know if I learned anything per se. But I was reminded that when you’re using multiple fabrics that have different weight, stretch, hand, etc., you have to be so careful to make sure they drape well together.  It definitely takes a few tries of pinning and repining to get the drape perfect. But I did it and it came out pretty great.

2. I was also reminded of days gone when I used to cut patterns on the floor because I didn’t have a cutting table. I have a cutting table now. But these pattern pieces were so big that my table couldn’t handle them.

There’s literally zero thought that needs to go into this pattern. Newbies can go for it.
