The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe:  Burda 6397

My hubz brings me so much joy.  So I’m always looking for ways to put a smile on his face.  I was walking through Joann’s one day when I came upon a bin of faux fur for 70% off.  I didn’t know what I was going to do with it.  But I knew that it might come in handy at some point.  I was trying to figure out how to turn the fur into a awesomely ridiculous gift for my husband who is a lover of all things Plush.  First I thought maybe a pillow or something he could lounge on.  Then it came to me, how about something he could lounge in?

Pattern Edits:

1. I didn’t edit a GOT damn thing.  The pattern was pretty perfect…which says a lot because Burda patterns are usually awful.

Lessons Learned:

1. Any kind of high shed fabric, like faux fur, is a beast to work with.  Not only does it get everywhere (including up your nose) but the more you work with a piece of it, the harder it is to ensure that you’ve got clean seam lines or to even see what the hell you’re doing.

2. The next time I work with a fabric like this I’ll a) use a face mask to protect my lungs and b) go slow and steady to make sure I don’t mess the whole thing up.  Just because the mistake isn’t visible, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

This was a pretty straight forward pattern, but I would probably mark it as intermediate.  Because you’d likely be using a thick jersey knit or a sweatshirt knit, that it might be a little more difficult for a novice sewist.
