The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe: Know Me #ME2026

I have been following Mimi G for a really long time.  And one of the things that I love about her is that she turned her passion into profit.  But she’s not trying to keep it all for herself.  She’s helping others turn their sewing and design skills into cold American cash by starting the Know Me brand.  This brand connects us to some of the funkiest designers out there. I also love that many of them are women, BIPOC and queer.

The first Know Me pattern that I’m trying comes from Nefertiti Griggs and is a high-low shirt dress.  I’ve been incorporating funky necklaces into my repertoire lately, and I find that they look really good with a shirt dress that’s buttoned all the way up.

Pattern: Know Me ME2026 Misses' Shirtdress and Knit Tank Dress

Fabric: I think that I got the fabric from Fabric Wholesale Direct

Style: Shirtdress

Vintage/Contemporary:  Contemporary

Pattern Edits:

1.     There was an underdress pattern that could be made with this shirt dress. But I chose not to make it.  Fitted bodycon dresses are not my style.

2.     Pockets…always add pockets.

3.     I also chose to cut contrasting panels on the horizontal to give the print of the fabric some additional pizazz.

Lessons Learned:

1.     This was a pretty straight forward pattern.  I liked the addition of an extra panel in the back to give it a swing dress feel.
