The Road to a #MeMade Wardrobe: Vogue 8924
After completing my first semester at LACC for costume design, and working in the super cold costume shop, I realized that I needed two things: 1. Warmer clothes and 2. Utility clothes. I went digging through my pattern cabinet and pulled out this really easy and super cute mock turtleneck, pocketed tunic. I next had to figure out what fabric to use. I’d had this quilting fabric sitting around for a while. But I thought it too thin to use for a top. So I fully lined it with a contrasting broadcloth.
Pattern: MISSES' DROP-SHOULDER TUNICS
Fabric: Quilter's Showcase Cotton Fabric-Blue Quartz Circle Bursts and Symphony Broadcloth Polyester Blend Fabric -Solids from Joann
Style: Tunic
Vintage/Contemporary: Contemporary
Pattern Edits:
1. I combined different versions of the pattern so that I could have pockets and a mock turtleneck in the same garment.
2. Instead of using facing I fully lined the garment.
Lessons Learned:
1. I’m pretty pleased with the decisions I made with this garment. In fact, I can’t wait to make it again.
I’d recommend this pattern to pretty much any level of sewist. I think the button flap might be a bit of a challenge for some. But it’s not too crazy. So go ahead and challenge yourself.
